We look for problems that genuinely matter to the people who live with them—not problems that are merely convenient to solve with technology we already like.
How we choose problems
Not every problem deserves a venture.
Before we commit real time and money to anything, we put it through six questions. A problem doesn't need a perfect score—but it needs an honest answer to all six.
Six questions for choosing problems
We ask what actually changes if we succeed. Vague improvement isn't enough—we want to be able to point to it.
If it were obvious and easy, someone would already be doing it well. We look for the reasons a problem has been ignored, and whether those reasons still hold.
Caring about a problem isn't the same as being the right team to solve it. We ask honestly what distinctive advantage we bring.
A good cause without a viable business model runs out of runway. We look for a real path to a business that can stand on its own.
We ask what the studio gains beyond this one venture—expertise, technology, relationships, or talent that make the next problem easier to solve.
